once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I myself took a long break from playing, the vintage hobby and this here forum.....I've recently stated playing a bit again, and chiming in here from time to time again, but not much into the vintage hobby anymore. Just plain can't afford it. With that said, I have one "vintage" snare left, and its a keeper as it was my dad's snare that he bought new in 1968. The rest of the gear I have is from the late 80's and not really considered vintage in these here parts, even though it is 30 years old now.....so, as an older member here, I'm chiming in to say, I'm still ok. :)

Im retired now and I don't have the wind in my sails like I did 20 yrs ago. I,ve got the drums I always wanted so im not looking any more and im quite finished with drum forums in general. Any questions I ever had have been answered and I don't want to bring up topics that don't interest me anyway. I guess that means im done and that's ok, but I do enjoy reading some of the posts from the younger players.

I'm ok, I don't post much (hardly at all now) as I've nothing really to talk about, and also, well, can't afford anymore gear. I quite often 'have a look' on here to see what's going on etc. I will always be keeping my 2 radio king snares, and it was a great ride finding out from the helpfull members on here about them ( and some other stuff and cymbals) this is a great forum and I always enjoy reading through the posts even if there's no relevance. Jump For Joy now where was I... I think ile just have another look through the slingerland section, and those vintage ride cymbals......

I love the jazz era

Tigerdrummer;...This is the best forum for realistic advise and honest opinions. Other forums have their share of very opinionated, deep pocket, drum snobs who measure quality by its price tag...Not here, I don't think, but all you need to do is just ask, and you will get good advise.

I'm an old guy & after years of playing vintage I've almost got all my old stuff sold & have bought new. I'd always wanted to custom order a set of Ludwig Classic Maples & did so last year. I still have my '68 Big Beat but I've molested the finish so much nobody wants it :D

Got a set of Breakbeats for the small gigs & rehearsal.

But I'm not completely out of the vintage scene, there's 3-4 snares I'd like to acquire, but that'll have to wait.
