Old Zildjians.

Loading...

I'm trying to find out about 3 old Zildjian cymbals.

Two are 20" and one's 19"

I believe the 19" is a crash as it's substantially lighter than the others. One of the 20" is lighter and thinner than the other.

All the printing has come off but the engraved logo's are still there.

I'm asking as I know next to nothing about old Zildjians.

Pretty tough to tell a whole lot from the photos but here's my guess. I suspect they are probably 1960's-70's era A Zildjians. Looks like pretty standard lathed cymbals. If you can get a closeup shot of the stamped logos there are guys who can nail down ages a little better. If you can weigh them that will tell more about the overall intended use for the cymbal (ride/crash). Most of the cymbal experts weigh cymbals in grams so if you can get that it will tell more about what you've got there.

Thanks for the reply. The etched logo's are pretty worn, but I'll see what I can do about an image.

I'll also find out the weights. Good tip.

More info.

The first is 20" diameter, weighs 2194g and the etched logo is 1-3/16" high. The underside has an 'outline' logo and an ink stamp saying '51cm (Zildjian logo) 20". I don't know if the picture shows, but it has quite a high bell. (Over 1-1/8")

The next is also 20" and weighs 2290g with the etched logo being 1-1/8" high. There are no inked logo's anywhere. The bell is quite low profile and small. (4" dia)

The last is 19" and weighs 1731g. The etched logo is identical to the first cymbal. (To my eyes) No inked logos and the bell is 5.5" dia and less than 1" high.
