Old snare drum, no markings Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hello everyone!, I am a new member to the forum, although I have viewed it quite often in the past. I have an old snare drum that has no markings that I can see. The drum has eight lugs and is 16" by 4 1/2". I would appreciate any help to i.d. this drum. I have more pics if needed. Thanks, Larry

It looks to be red Copper, strainer wing nut looks familiar but I can`t place it yet. Look for a triangle stamped into the shell, usually behind the strainer or butt piece and could be anywhere. More pics are always better to include the inside !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Love that inlay work on the hoops. That would look great all cleaned up.

I have spent the last three hours searching the internet. Nothing except for a drum on ebay that looks similar (inlay on rims, same looking strainer wing nut) It is listed under vintage marching snare drums. The seller says his drum has no markings either. The resonant head is torn and I can see inside. No markings there either. I think I might try to take it apart and take a good look. Thanks, Larry

It looks like a 1900-1910 Geo. B. Stone made drum..Or could also be a Pepper and Son drum or Dodge drums all from the years 1900-1910..

Copper? No, that's a well tarnished brass shell. Any pics of the strainer?

I'm digging the pattern on the rims too. Is it actually inlaid or is it some type of "wallpaper"?

Believe it or else!

Maybe the trim is brass, but that looks like red Copper to me. Probably Paul Rever Co. near Boston !! I see too much or even any red to be brass !!

It`s definately a marcher. Got the strap attacment on it. There`s a really old drum manufacturer from Boston I can`t remember,..I suspect it`s either German (decorative Hoops) or from Boston (red Copper)

That`s the one,..Geo. Stone.

Mikey,..I`m seeing the series lables All Metal, Delux, and Black Beauty,....Did Ludwig buy these titles or just happen to have the same lines years later ?

I had no idea there was such a thing as a Boston Black Beauty,...Hanover St. is over that way and I`m gonna see if that adress/building is still there !!
