You sure you are on the right forum? Ebay links are all over the place on here.

For posterity, here's some pics and text from the listing...........

And actually, that is the way it is meant to work.

The listings die and the pics are lost, making the thread worthless as a reference.

It's a huge undertaking finding all the threads with off-site links to pics that are deemed

of historical value, capturing the pics and adding them to threads.

I know that personally, I helped Webmaster with that process a couple of years ago for about six months.

I read thousands of posts during that time, and got a real feel for the enormity of the task.

So, one can understand why there are many links that are present in threads.... they may not

be important as to historical value, such as links to eBay solely for the purpose of giving a heads up as to an item for sale.

Other links to items that would have a value as a historical reference often are looked at,the pictures harvested, and posted in the threads.

Any help "self-policing" those types of items by Members is a great help to Admin, and of great value to the Forum.

Please excuse me for picking up the gauntlet on this on behalf of Webmaster/David and Administrator/TommyP

Requirements:You must have a computer. You need to be able to take images that people post that are the wrong size or linked to a service or server that can at any time disappear. Causing a broken image which to me defeats the purpose of tracking the history. Then re-size it and possibly clean it or crop out the non essentials! No need to see someones BIG TOE in the photo (Also many times a screen shot needs to be taken and cropped and used if the service does not allow images to be saved from their server)Then edit a persons post delete the linked files and upload the new images as attachments. They will also need to be able to delete Ebay and Craigs List posts and rework them to be actual forum posts with the saved images and parts of the listing to keep the history clean and available for many years. You will have access to user posts.I have come to the point where with other obligations I can't be as neat and tidy as I like.So if anyone likes working for free then PM me.David

I saw that. First time in 25 years of playing and collecting old Ks that I've run across it. Truthfully, the only old K ink I'm familiar with is the essay sometimes found on cymbal bottoms ... but only once in a great while. And size/weight designations. I figure it this way: anyone can stamp whatever he wants to on his cymbals. And sometimes a guy will...

That said, looking at the pics, I had no reason to doubt these were totally legit Type IIa 12-inchers. Anyone think differently?

Later there was (for a brief time) A Zildjian "bop" hats which had a flattened flange edge to the bottom cymbal.

I don't know if the weights were matched between the top and bottom, but perhaps this was another feature of bop hats. The later ones I saw were 14" however. I think 60's early 70's maybe? I have never seen another set since the one set I saw once. I did not play them so I cannot comment on their sound either (pretty useless post for the most part I guess??)Sailing2

Little bit of mix-up here, I think -- but definitely on the right track.

There were trans stamp hats with the "bop" designation. They were thin (naturally) and had a flanged (flattened or pang-like) bottom cymbal. The '70s versions you're referring to were similar (with flanged bottom cymbal) but they were no longer called "bop" (it being the '70s and all!) but "flange." See pic in lower left-hand corner:

These were MUCH heavier than the trans stamp versions. And not huge sellers? IDK ... LOL! You see both versions on eBay from time to time. No one ever bites, though, AFAIK. Anyone ever play a pair of these flanged hats ... with the exception of you over-zealous eBay sellers who think you've hit the jackpot? ;) (Maybe you have ... who knows?)

Ultimately, neither of these As is what is going on in this somewhat strange old K auction...

Yeah, those flange hats are what I was thinking of...

Useless post on my part! Pay no attention! Nothing to see here! Move along!

Cooked Egg

ALMOST completely unrelated "And now for something completely different..."

anyway, I have that 12" S.R. bottom hat and I have a 12" EFX piggyback (which is a tiny china essentially) and I'm thinking that might make an interesting combination as an aux hat or something. The S.R. Cymbal is WAY heavy, so the open hat sound with that on top will not be pleasant (it may pair well with a cheap splash on top however) but closed it could be an interesting sound...

I need another high hat stand...

I got some 14" Flange hi hats with my first Rogers kit in around 1972-73...

They looked kind of old then,so maybe they were 50's?

Long gone, but I remember them being kind of thin....
