Hi all:

I just joined this forum today. I'm sure that there are quite a few folks on this forum whom I know from an other drum forum. A few bits of info about me:

* I am of retirement age, and retired after a long career as a manufacturer's rep in the music business

* I'm originally from the Chicago area, and have lived in the Dallas area for over 30 years

* I've played drums since I was nine years old in school band

* I played professionally for over twenty years--usually as a part time player while in college and/or working full time "civilian" jobs

* I have nothing against newer drums. But, those ar for other people. I am very happy with vintage drums of the 1950s and 1960s.

* My preferences in drums are for Leedy, Slingerland, Rogers, and Walberg & Auge

But, enough about me......... Are there any other Walberg & Auge owners here?

I suppose that it would be proper as well as self-serving to list my drum sets here. Hell....any excuse to do that is Ok by me. I also have no shame.D' Drummer

* 1963 Cleveland Rogers 4 piece Champagne Sparkle

* 1963 Leedy Shelly Manne 4 piece Black Diamond Pearl

* 1968 Slingerland 4 piece Red Glass/White Marine/Blue Glass striped

* 1960's Cleveland Rogers 5 piece (with added Jasper 8x10) Blue Glass Glitter

* Rescue Leedy orphan 4 piece rewrapped in White 3D Moire to match 1960s Camco snare

* Rescue Ludwig Clubdate 4 piece plus Ludwig bongos rewrapped in Red Sparkle to match 1963 Slingerland snare drum

* 1963 Walberg and Auge 3 piece Salmon Satin Flame with 1961 W&A Champagne Sparkle snare

* 1965 Walberg and Auge 4 piece Gold Glass Glitter (with 16 deep x14 floor tom)

* 1972 Walberg and Auge 5 piece Ice Blue Glass Glitter (latest date I've seen for W&A, and never before seen color)

* A few extra snare drums including Black Galaxy Acrolite, Radio King WMP 4x13, Cleveland Rogers Chrome Powertone

* Many A. Zildjian ride, ping, crash, splash, and hihat cymbals from 1940s through early 1970s. No China cymbals--never heard one that sounded musical

* A lot of stands and pedals from the 50s and 60s. Favorites are Rogers Swivo stands and pedals

* Three canister thrones: 60s Ludwig Blue Sparkle, Bermuda Sand custom made for me by Jim Petty, a weird black Tolex covered square canister that someone made, and sold on eBay

I think that nine sets and associated gear have reached the point of critical mass for my drum room. I have had many other vintage sets. But, I love swapping some of mine for some of someone else's if we each have something that appeals to the other person.
