This is pretty much the issue with my Acrolite. I've already removed all the hardware and going to transfer it to a World Max brass shell. I'm going to contact Randy Wagers, who is Ludwig's customer service/artist relations manager, and see if he would like the shell to show to others as an example of what should not have passed QC!!
