Oddball sized Super-Zyn

Hi all. I recently scored a nice Super-Zyn cymbal. It's extremely thin / light and about 14.5" I want to use it as a Top Hi Hat, but it's a little bigger than a 14". I never knew that Super-Zyn made 14.5" unless it's metric sized which seems strange for a cymbal made in England.

The cymbal is less than 400 grams making it wafer-thin. I have it matched up with an Avedis bottom which is roughly 1100 grams and not the same diameter as the Super-Zyn. I'm looking for some ideas for a better matching bottom Hat. Perhaps some Italian cymbals were slightly larger than 14"? My Tosco are slightly smaller than 14" so I'm not sure.

Any recommendations for a 14.5" cymbal to match this with for hi hats? I don't know where to begin looking.

Maybe some 15" bottoms? Some of the Ludwig Paiste Standards from the 50-60's are still pretty affordable and light sets. Both Swiss and German made. I have a set of Swiss ones and they are under 15" and pretty light. I'll measure them tomorrow but want to say 14.750"? Pretty common on ebay and not very expensive.

Ok both my 15's rang in at 14 7/8"---14.875". So just 1/8th/.125 under 15". .375 larger than your cymbal overall. Might not be too bad of a match if you can't find anything closer. I don't have a gram scale to weigh mine sorry. I'm off work for a week and can weigh them then. I know a few others here have these cymbals. Maybe they can chime in on weight. If I had to guess my top is in the 700-800 range bottom like 150g heavier. Very light and sound great for what they are.

Thanks a lot Glenn. That's very helpful. I'll find out for sure what size the Super-Zyn is. I just know that it's somewhere between 14 and 15 inches. I can still use it with a 14" bottom, but not ideal. Thanks for the info.

Cymbal is 36.5cm or 14 and a quarter inches in diameter.

Also while measuring it I noticed what appears to be a mark which may have once been an ink stamp. It has the letters MT inside a circle on the underside of the cymbal. Very strange. Metric size and ink stamp, seems more like something UFiP would do than any English company.

Check the photo. Does this MT stamp look familiar to anyone? I was thinking it could mean Medium Thin, but the cymbal is extremely thin.

sorry, can't help here. I just checked my Super Zyn hats and they are a fraction under 14". Maybe they were buying in blanks from another manufacturer?
