I find it odd that Rogers is marketing a Covington kit in tri-onyx before offering any kits in the basic three colors of red, blue and black onyx.
I doubt I would buy any of them due to the price of new vs vintage kits. However, I'd be much more tempted to buy a straight red, blue or black onyx set than the tri-color that was mostly used for marching bands and for schools to attempt to mimic school colors.
Seems the draw for a tri-onyx would be relatively low. Otherwise, Ben Strauss would have had a nice tri-onyx kit in the '67 catalog. But he didn't. He put pictures of tri-color kits in the band instrument section.
All that said, I don't find it very appealing.
What say you all?
