I sure would like to get this beauty back up and running.

Missing parts: Strainer, butt, Trods, hoops...

The edges are perfect and the drum is in round.

... the excitement of the hunt.

That will be a cool drum to own and play. I'm betting you have a long hunt ahead of you as you don't see an abundance of Camco parts popping up. GREAT challenge!!

Not a Guru... just interested..

Congratulations, a beautiful drum.

Good luck on the hunt. The Aristocrat strainer will be the hardest to find. I’m aware of at least 5 Camco players/collectors that are searching for one or more to complete their drums. If you already want to play it, try some generic 1,6mm steel hoops and a Rogers Clockface strainer.

Does the Rogers clock face strainer have the exact same hole to hole distance as the Camco Aristocrat?

Doh! Never mind. Not complete, but the strainer was in a pile of parts that my brother packed up. I also found the butt and a bunch of trods that I believe are Camco. Now I'll grab some generic hoops, and look for a plate for the strainer...

Man I can't wait to hear this drum!

Try the new DW True Hoop, it's their version of Camco's original with the folded over edge!

Never play it the same way once.

Thanks. They seem to be thicker hoops though correct? 3mm?

DW True Hoops are not based on a Camco hoop at all. They are much heavier. I'd opt for some lighter gauge triple flange for the best tone out of the Camco until you can find original hoops.

Wow,... buy your brother a beer,... that’s a $150,00 find !

Mario is correct, you will get a good tone out of a lighter triple flange hoop. The earlier Camco drums came with the typical tall COB hoops. Your drum appears to be a later 6-ply drum. By that time, many drums came with more generic Asian hoops. Something with a more-rounded shoulder part will practically make it look like original.

I scrambled to throw some parts on this shell so I could get it up on a stand to hear it. Wow, it has every frequency I like to hear in a snare and more importantly, every frequency that I think a mic will smile upon. Body, crack, mids, this thing sounds really beautiful.

I will continue to search for Camco parts, but for now its playable which was my aim.

Oh course its a personal taste , but I don't know why other companies didn't follow suit in using undersized shells and similar bearing edge profiles. This drum is impressive.

The ranting of the newly converted...
