Don't believe this strainer if original. Sceptical of the 13 reported size. (Anyone ever seen a 13 vintage MIJ snare before?)

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

That sure is a great color wrap.

Thats the only good thing about MIJ drums, you will occasionally find some really outrageous wrap colors that the majors didnt have.

That strainer is def not original.

beautiful wrap. I dig it.

agreed on mij wraps. there are really some nice ones out there. ive got two mid 60's pearl snares for that reason alone, but they do sound nice and have great chrome too..

I was wondering if it was a 13" looking at the picture. Probably 4.5" deep too, just like the one I have. Mine's a Dixie, champagne sparkle. Maybe it's 5" deep instead of 5.5"...

Anyway them are firecrackers - many post-show compliments on the sound.

Nice looking snare :)

The wrap is very similar to Tiger wrap or Leopard wrap used by Sonor in the 1960s - I've also seen Mercury drums in something similar (though that was more orange-ish than gold), one of us recently posted a thread about them. I think 4" or 4,5" was common for that era though I'm not sure about 13".

Sorry I didn't make myself clear - the drum pictured in Drummerjohn333's post is almost certainly 13".

Here's a couple pics of my 13" Dixie

I have two mij 13'' snares, pearl and star, I also have a 14'' pearl snare and 22'' b/drum in this wrap and rather faded 16'' f/tom as well all battle ship lugs. a mate of mine has a complete kit with a 20'' b/drum but a steel snare. two of my drums have different coloured badges, one is black and the other is gold ?
