nor do i think so, although there is a warm connection between some drum companies and Banjos. two ,I can think of are Slingerland and Tromsa. both companies made or partially made Banjos. In the 1960's in Toronto, about the only guitars,basses and drums that newly minted aspiring musicians could afford were Japanese. This stuff showed up in myriad forms and styles,some straight knockoffs of well known brands . Along with Stewart,Silvertone,Coronet,Pan(my rhythm guitar player had a Pan hollow body----Pan---Pan; what kind of a name is that? : there was Kent, available everywhere and considered to be a cut above the rest,for what reasons I do not know. I saw lots of Kent acoustic and electric guitars and I do think Banjos too; all made in Japan. I was always under the impression that Kent Drums distributed these------it would seem logical to have a budget line of stringed instruments to mate with their budget drums. Dealers would have liked it.

Ludwig also made banjos. Rogers made them for a while as well. Slingerland did too.

I saw a Kent banjo in a local antique store today. I was thinking it was made by the Kent Brothers out of Kenmore NY (Kent Drums). It was spoken for and I was a little disappointed....However;
