My family and I will be headed down to North Carolina in Aug. for a long overdue week vacation. Going to be staying with my wifes parents at their home in Pinehurst. I know nothing about the area and wondered if there was anything that is a must see down there vintage drums/instruments or live music. Thanks guys!
North Carolina

Curtis try this number for the Ludwig appointment. 704-289-6459
I did the Ludwig tour, definitely enjoyed it.
We have traveled many times on I-40 , I-26 through Asheville on the way to my daughters when she lived in Jacksonville Fla., which is a great place by the way. But Asheville is a great stop for craft beer, good food and the night entertainment is awesome. I don’t know what direction your coming from but if you go to Asheville, check out the Jack of the Woods tavern we listened to group of mandolin, violin, guitar players playing music from pre Civil War era. I don’t recall what they called it but we thought it was bluegrass music only to be corrected. The group had planned the gig for many months over the internet. They came from all over, even Australia. It was something you defiantly don’t hear everyday. We had a table right in front and the musicians sat with us and put their cases on our table. There were new musicians coming and going all night, like an open mic night, kinda. Well anyway, a great time for sure.
It has been a couple of years but I understood Ludwig plant did not do tours, so we didn’t go there. I would love to see it!

The state zoo is killer....in Asheboro
Listen to WNCW.org..or is it .com? ..The NC is for North Carolina...
they are close to Ashville too...you can get the gist of what is going on around there....
I like that station a lot....lots of Americana music during the day,but they still mix it up..then at night..more alternative like...
They have a Grateful Dead show every week too....Dead Air.....
Good stuff........
Avoid Hickory....not a damn thing to do here unless you want to drop by for a cup of coffee and a session at my place.....:)

Kevin do you know the guy that made Hickory famous? You know that comedian that won Last comic standing several years ago, John Reep?
That dude was great!
And If we ever get back your way I would love to stop and see you. Daughter lives in Webster Texas now, so it would be a little bit out of the way, LOL!
Thank you!
