once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I enjoy helping other people, habit for Humanity, hearts& hammers and just plain ole helping out, but,

my hobby is playing drums, unlike most of you I do not do paid gigs and i am very much an amateur drummer, still learning. So when Im not building cabinets or running my business I get enjoyment, relaxation from playing my drums. If I had to go beyond the drum topic then I would say my hobby is driving my first car, a 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe.

I used to be into model railroad when I was a kid and still have my trains plus a ton of trains inherited from my dad. I have enough train stuff in my basement to build an awesome setup, just no time, like I say, my spare time is playing drums.

Thank you!

Vintage guitars. Specifically old arch top guitars. (Kay, Harmony, Silvertone)

Comic books/super hero figures

fishing

grilling/smoking food

I like vintage cars/trucks. I don't own any now but I'd like to one day have a 60's Cadillac convertible and a 48-53 Chevy 3100 pick up.

Really great to see what our members do when not being involved with drums!

One of my non-drum hobbies is Classic Cars. Anything Chrysler, Dodge, or Plymouth. My dream car is 1969 Dodge Charger R/T or R/T SE. 440 Magnum 3-speed Auto.

If I couldn't find that then I would get the car my father use to have back in the early 70's. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner.

Unfortunately I will never be able to afford them.

I've had a bunch of them over the years. Nothing fancy, but have had this '50 3100 for almost 20 years now. Lots of fun! Looks like a little hot rod. But i've got a '53 235 in it. Still has the starter engage on the floor.

Flying. I always wanted to fly as a kid, so once I got a real job (non-drumming), I went to flight school at a tiny, country airport here in CT and got my single-engine, VFR rating. I don't fly often anymore, as my wife is terrified of leaving the ground (yah, Amtrak vacations for us now), but occasionally a generous friend lends me his Piper Archer.

Thanks Jay for starting this great thread. We already know what we all have in common; it's so interesting to find out what everyone's other past-times are. And Jay, if you're a model railroader, you must be familiar with The Time Machine in Manchester. Amazing place.

Hope our moderator Tommy P chimes in with his hobby. It's a great one, but it's not my place to spill the beans.
