Found this set for sale ($650), got interested (long distance by photos) as it comes with an 80's Supraphonic and is an acrylic set, then started questioning what is going on and whether it might be cobbled together. Amber acrylic seamed shells, 22, 13, 14, and 16. Says the snare is 15" but I might question that? 10 lug bass with ludwig-appearing T rods, short 60s-70s style Dayton? Rogers claws, and 70s style Pearl/CB700/Other? style lugs on all pieces best I can tell from the pics. Bass has hex tom mount going both ways from swivel (early Pearl?). Bass spurs appear similar to a vintage Pearl set I have. Don't appear to be any cracks or extra holes. Mix of hardware and cymbals (Pearl, no label/stamp) come with the kit. Any help appreciated on ID or value.
No badge, seamed amber acrylic set with cobbled? hardware.
It's a Pearl (MIJ) "Crystal Beat" set.
Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
Thanks.. It seemed from what I could find that Pearl or some Pearl iteration was likely the best fit. Would it fit an early 70's time period?
I'd say it's around '73.. The Crystal Beats ('74) had the later tom mounts.
Cheers

Has anyone here ever seen an actual "Pearl" badged set with that double tom mount? I'm thinking those may be stencils. That is all I've ever seen with that mount, as in Royce, Maxwin, C.B. etc. The early double mount was a single rod with a double "tree" adapter.

I have never seen a Crystal Beat set with that mount. Maybe a very early example? Or as Tom suggests, a stencil acrylic made by Pearl. The Crystal beat shells are seamless too.
Oops, I stand...sit..... corrected.
Perhaps not a real Crystal Beat.
I am not an official MIJ afficianado.
It was the lugs......and I got excited.......thought I actually had an answer
this time.Lame

On a closer viewing...The Tom angle adjusters look like those used on the pre 70's Pearl kits along with early 70's "Maxwin by Pearl" kits . However those long mount receiver lugs on the toms do not.. cannot find them anywhere.
Inclined to agree with Tom/Andrew.. that it's a Stencil kit probably built by Pearl.

Thanks for all your help. The seamed shells (I can see clearly in a couple other pictures) and the bass T rods and claws confused me further, but it still is a cool-looking kit with the amber color and 10 lug bass, etc. I refurbished a vintage Pearl (white pearl) kit with a blue pearl Star snare a few years ago and had fun putting it back into shape. Actually very good build quality. I kind of like checking out these vintage MIJ kits! Dean
