Nickel or Chrome on P-83 from 1964/65?

Hi folks,

I've got some parts from a Ludwig snare up on Ebay, but I'm not sure if they're nickel or chrome plated, and I'm hoping someone here can help me out. The keystone badge on the shell indicates a manufacture date of April '64-'65, and I haven't had much luck researching on my own. It's a P-83 in great shape, with the butt, 6 bowtie lugs, and a baseball bat style dampener. Any ideas?

Well.. not much help but here is a picture of a 63' Nickel P-83.... so if the picture is accurate they were still in nickel up to that date.. gets you one year before the one you are working on identifying.

That's all I could find... I dug around in my copy of The Ludwig Book, Rob Cook... didn't spend too much time looking but nothing jumped at me.

Not a Guru... just interested..
