I was listening to DSM the other night and I must say that I really like Nick Mason's sound and fills. Nobody ever accused him of being very technical but I really enjoy his playing...Any thoughts?

Great drummer!! Steady groove with subtle accents when needed...He never overplays the music...
My personal favorite PF album is Obscured by Clouds...An album which you can play from start to finish...

I've love "Obscured" for years....can't believe it isn't better known...
Nick is a awesome player. DSM is still one of my favs. It never gets old.
Funny DSM story...........
I have (well had) a original LP with the green pyramid poster inside that was still sealed in plastic. My oldest son got into my old LP's one day, found the album and cracked it open and had a listen. He found the poster too. I came home from work and he was like " Dad!!! I found a old PF DSM album in your LP's!! I opened it and found a cool old poster inside.....did you know it was in there? " Indeed the poster he tacked up on the wall in his room. LOL ahhh yes. So I framed the poster and it still hangs downstairs. Laughing H
Sorry to go off topic..............

Well, at least your kiddo has great taste in music!! .... records were made to be played anyway! Guitar Dude Man
If you have a bad day, just put DSM on and all will be well.

Nick Mason is a player of impeccable taste. His playing on "Dark Side" is exceptional.
Pink Floyd doesn't often call for flashy drumming, but he could let it loose when required.
"Animals" is the album that introduced me to PF. It's probably their most aggressive album, and he has several shining moments.
I recommend the "Live at Pompeii" DVD. It includes "Echoes," lots of other early Floyd such as "One of These Days" (another rocker), and glimpses of "Dark Side" being recorded.

Nick just turned 69 last month!
He lives in Hampstead,London, which has the highest concentration of millionaires in the U.K.FYI
He is worth around 90 million...
Not bad for a groove player....Yes Sir..
I have been digging the heck out him lately..has to be my favorite Rock drummer right now...
Rides on his ride cymbal a lot, then does cool tom accents...
Played Premier too!
Went to Ludwig after hearing Ginger Baker he said in a interview......
Good friends with Bill Ludwig the 3rd .
Can you tell I did my homework on him?
LOVE Nick Mason.......I have many Pink Floyd albums on wax. "Obscured By Clouds" is special. One of my favorites. I always felt he was not recognized enough for his playing. People that aren't that into Pink Floyd or want to experience more of the band should start with "Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii" on DVD. Nick Mason performance is beyond exceptional......it's mind blowing....very psychedelic player in the most pure sense...Yes Sir
Nick Mason is fine. I LOVE Live at Pompeii - that was the thing that got me into PF and classic rock generally.
Obscured by Clouds is my favourite chill-out album.
I think there are better drummers than him, but he did play what was right and fitting. A sympathetic guy, too!
