Newbie to Rogers needs some friendly advice, if you please

I have what appears to be a 1983 Rogers Super Londoner Five, Kit #1 (not vintage, yet) Silver Wrap in fair shape... 18" floor tom, 15 and 12" rack toms, 24" kick...

Interior is grey speckled, no stickers or other markings inside...

lugs and hoops in fair condition...

Big R badges with "D" in front of serial numbers (725820,729016,738073,726646)

So I know it has to be 1976 or later... (right?)

The only time I see those tom sizes mentioned in any online catalogs are in 1983...

What exactly do I have here??? Where made etc...

I have NO Rogers experience and just need to know what I've got if anyone has a couple minutes to help.

Thanks in advance...

after a little more research i'm not sure it is a 1983... the serial numbers are very close to a 1977...

I would agree they are 1980 or a bit earlier....'78, '79 maybe. The shells are speckled ? Do they have re-rings ?

Maybe Ploughman will chime in...he is an expert with these. You could PM him too.

Can you post some pics ?

Those were some of the last shells Rogers made before they switched over to imported shells. That's a nice kit.

Your drums were produced early 1979 or before, most likely in 1978. I suspect your floor tom mounts use tubular legs that have memrilocks. If they dont, 1977- early 78.

They could be excellent drums.

The wrap is peeling up at the seams a tad and the floor tom wrap is cracked, but all the hardware is intact. We'll see... I'm looking to take some TLC time and really clean them up well... thanks for all the info!!! Keep it coming and I'll get some pics up real soon...Clapping Happy2

Your wrap was called ... Silver Metallic.. by Rogers. As that wrap ages, it is prone to cracking. If you take care of it, it will last quite some time. I have owned a set of Silver Metallic Rogers Drums since 1979. They are still in great shape, but do have the characteristic stress cracks.
