Newbie needs Help finding 1957 WFL lug

Loading...

Greetings. I am new. I am excited. I got this wood snare 1957 stamp inside WFL and it is missing one lug bolt. Where is the fasted way to find a replacement? Thank you!

I got this from a guy today for $75! I believe this is mahogany. Came in original soft fabric case. Original heads on it. Bottom one is broken. Top is unused... but I played it today (drums are to be played.) So it is original head - played for 5 minutes. Anyway, any assistance with this drum would be appreciated. Value? Suggestions.

The reason I wanted the old wood snare, was to play it. I used to play one in college and it will add to my collection of one new metal Pearl, one vintage Fibes fiberglass and now a vintage wood snare.

I need a lug nut. Should I take the original heads off...put new ones on and play it? And keep the heads for it if re-sale? Or should I keep everything the way it is for an investment? Advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

REPLACE THE HEADS!!!! Never play with the original heads. You want to preserve them if you should ever want to sell. I run a clear ambassador on the bottom and a coated one on the top. Never had to think about finding another head ever.

There is a guy around here...Mikey and I am more than sure he will help out with the lug. There pretty common even on ebay if you have to resort to that.

I personally love the sound of my 1958 WFL. Nothing sounds like it, just a beautiful warm sound that mixes in with all the music I play too.

Great. Mikey I will need to get in contact with you to get one magnificant lug. I will look to see how I can do that.

Is this mahogany or maple? What is a fair value. There are scratches on the wood here and there. It came with the original soft case. I will be playing it, so should I also keep the original snare on it? Thanks again. This is a great site to delve into the vintage drums. I have a load of great autographs as well. William F Ludwig himself, Roy Knapp, Buddy Rich on a concert poster, Bellson, Cobham, Appice, Shaunessy.

So thanks.

That picture looks wrong-it looks like a 12" snare drum.Is it a converted mounted tom?

It is seven inches deep. The picture angle might have made a difference, or when I made it smaller to fit here..might have funked it up a bit?

Thanks for any information about it. Inside has the date, and a K or X written.

On the WFL tag / keystone there is a number scratched into it? 490 something.

Again, any information is appreciated. Thanks.
