Hello all, I'm definitely a newbie, and have absolutely no knowledge of drums. I came across this drum a while back and I'm trying to find out its worth. Could someone take a gander and give me an opinion as to what I have and what it might be worth? I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks. BTW, s/n 1540003.

That's a Ludwig Conga drum. Not the most authentic of Latin percussion instruments but it seems they sold quite a few of them. Not particularly sought after unless they are in some rare color (of which red sparkle is not one). Value would depend on condition but top dollar would probably be around $125...more realistic would be $75-$100 or even $50 if it's beat up. Someone just recently GAVE me a pair of Blue Sparkle ones, really rough...I may have overpaid. I have a really nice red one as well, just like yours, and I think I paid $100 for that one, although I'm not really sure why.
I remember many years ago seeing Shrined bands marching with those in parades. I always thought they were cool. I picked up a BDP keystone badge one a few years ago. I have no idea what they are worth though.
Thank you both K.O. and jerrysterken.
They are kind of cool to have, which is why I bought the red one, but they aren't particularly useful...more of a conversation piece than a useful instrument.
The badge, lugs, and hoop have some value as parts too if the shell is trashed...not that I condone parting out drums.
Had a guy on ePay buy one off me once...called on a Sunday...asked if I could deliver it to Ohio..to save him shipping..!..Sure,we can drive 400 + miles RT to save you $35..WTH?
blairndrums, how much did you get for your's?
Seems like around $100...120?..Red Sparkle...
I like it - red sparkle....nice. I also like that Ludwig made these. I have mostly played and own Gretsch drums. Gretsch made bongos and cocktail drums but I've never seen a Gretsch conga drum anywhere.
Nice find.
