Hi All,

My name is Matt, from just outside of Nashville. I know a few of you from others Forums like Drummerworld, Drumzilla's Lair and the old NSMD forum. A few years back I was fairly active, collecting mostly Ludwig snares and sets. I had to sell everything due to illness in the family but have recently got back to hunting drums. I also play a bit in my wife's jazz trio/quartet and occasional in Rock n Roll or Blues outfits. My nephew recently gave up his drums for guitar and I aquired a set of '64 BDP Luddies minus the snare. I was looking for a smaller kit for these jazz gigs.. this one was 20, 12, 16 x 16. These drums were filthy, with a coating of mung, dust, dirt, on them and inside. The badges were all close in the low 5000s. This kit seemed to be factory with out a rail mount and it had two L-Arm fittings. It came with one original L-arm and the original short FT legs. Now the bad news. Some idiot, probably a dealer because it's old, mounted a tom mount on the bass drum in an odd place, way up by the front rim and next to a lug. So the 12 and 20 have 3 small holes each ruining any significant value of the kit, but is is really nice otherwise and a perfect players kit. As you can see, I got rid of the mount and used a hoop mount. The lugs, and other hardware are in very good to excellent shape. One thing I noticed is the badges are not centered between a pair of lugs. It seems to me on my other vintage kits, WFL & Ludwigs the badges were always centered. Was this common, or part of the so called bad QC in 1964? After I photographed the drums last night, I could see that I need to clean the shells again...there's still this greeneish mung that shows up with the flash. I will use the Novus on them. It's a shame these got drilled. I purchased a beautiful and I mean beautiful BDP Jazzfest to go with the kit...a '67. I have a few questions about restoring a Speed King which I will post seperately. ...Matt

Hmmm, that tom holder is a Premier type from the 50s-60s, it'll fetch a few bucks on Ebay
