Good luck with your new hobby. I'm sure you will bump into people that would jam with you, especially if you keep mentioning your passion with other musicians. About the red sparkle treasure: been tracking all red Slinger snares on ebay. I have a lot to learn. Don't want to spend $300+ and don't know any details about a "student model" with 6 lugs that I'm inclined to bid on. Sure would like to get my hands on a 1966 Slingerland catalogue. First congrats on being a drummer! I quit playing at 17. 25 years later I began to play and study in earnest. I'm playing out a lot these days at the age of 52 and it's great. RE the snare. Matching sixties snares are getting pretty expensive. You can fine nice chrome slingerlands on eBay at a more reasonable price and they will sound great once you tweak them up with new heads. Or you might mix and match. Have fun with your drumming!

In regards to the 66 catalog you seek, there might not be a 66 catalog. As I have learned from DrCJW - he actually knows the original mailing dates for Slingerland Catalogs - that the 66 catalog was produced in 1965

I do not have any catalogs in my archives for 1966, there seams to be holes in different years for most drum company literature..

There is a specific Slingerland section that DrCJW does answer questions in on this forum that is not on the home page and you can get to if you read all of the Slingerland stuff he created..

He is a busy person and some times does not get to questions for awhile, but when he does come in, he usually answers all of the pending questions... As always search the forum first for your questions, because he might have already answered them.

Wow, that catalogue is perfect. Thank you so much. I was about to bid for that catalogue on ebay and it's quite expensive. Got some questions answered, got some new questions, and realized you can't always have all the answers with old stuff. Really appreciate you going to the trouble. Craig
