New to site / Rogers Drum Question

Hey-

I've recently tracked down a 3 piece Rogers set:

Drums are Holiday and from the Dayton Era

24" virgin bass

13" rail tom

16" floor tom

Blue Strata finish

Any idea what these are worth?

I'm locked in for 650.

Condition looks fairly good from the images I've seen.

The 24" kick kind of threw me off here - I wasn't aware Rogers manufactured this size drum in the '60s.

Thanks for your help.

It was originally in a double bass kit. 650 is a good price if the finish is intact.

I agree...it's not a finish which comes around too often, so it's approaching the adjective "rare".

If in decent shape, yes, it's a very good price, actually.....even though it may be missing a factory-matched shell...

Thanks for the replies.

Ok ended up picking up the kit for $650.....

Got home and under further review noticed that the interior tags were Dayton and had "Tower" crossed out with black marker and written above in pen was "Holiday" with the letters "SP" found on the tag. From a little research I found that this has happened in the Fullerton factory in necessity to save tags?????

Also, now that I have the drums I can see the bass drum tag is a Fullerton and has a "Power-Tone" tag which I thought was a snare drum tag.........

Is this a complete hack job at the Fullerton factory or was I taken to the cleaners?

Thanks in advance

I do know when they moved from Dayton to Fullerton they did use the Dayton tags on some drums...so I think you are right about that. Can you please post pics of both the Dayton tags and the Fullerton Powertone tags ?

REgardless of what the tags indicate, you weren't taken to the cleaners if the drums all match each other...

You have an early Fullerton transition kit.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Do you think the Powertone bass drum came as a kit with the two Holiday toms? I know the name "Holiday" was phased out by Rogers in the late '60s early '70s and replaced with "Powertone". I'm guessing these drums, or at least the bass drum, came from the "Ultra-Power" configuration. Do you know if this configuration or similar ones were be manufactured before 1970?

I'm going to try to get some pics up today.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a pic of the rail tom

The finishes look noticably different - do you think this can be attributed to fading or the wood tone underneath the wrap?

Hard to tell from the pics...typically, if the fade is off on one drum, it means that drum probably wasn't factory to the remaining ones. The wood beneath all Rogers would have been maple, so it would have been the same hue, generally speaking.
