I read about these over at the DFO site. Looks like excellent "vintage-looking" hardware! I really like that it comes with the soft bag, too. The bass drum pedal looks great and I like to give it a try! Thanks for posting those links!

I have 3 of the cymbal stands. They are are great alternative to paying folks ridiculous money for as rusty old Ludwig stand. The only thing I wasn't impressed with is the top rod on all 3 stands wiggle to varying degrees. Only mention this because Tama specifically mentions solving that issue with the original 1400 stands by installing an O ring. Had I bought the stands locally I would have returned them and asked to check out a few stands on hand for ones with less wobble. To be fair, I have not noticed it being an issue while playing. Just slightly annoying knowing it is there.

Sweetwater also mentions the stands come with cymbal mates. My stands did not but maybe they are part of the set.

It is also mentioned on Sweetwater the cymbal stands are convertible to boom stands. Mine are not and have the same product number.

If the set truly comes with the cymbal mates and the stands are flat base "boom" stands then it is a great deal. Something tells me they have it mixed up however.

In the picture it looks like they come with cymbal mates, but they are definitely not convertible boom stands. That is surely a misprint.

As far as the wobble goes on your stands, one thing that helps me on the old Ludwig 1400 stands is to use an automotive hose clamp on the top section as a "memory lock", but it also serves to make it more stable. Once you tighten down the hose clamp, the clamp itself easily supports the weight of the top section and cymbal, so the height adjustment wing nut is simply locking the top section into place, as opposed to locking it in place and having to support the full weight of the top section.

It seems to help me. It just feels so much more stable and secure that way, even if it's just mostly (or fully) psychological!

By the way, unless I am mistaken, I believe the reason that Tama installed the rubber O-ring on the top rod section was not for staving off wobble, but so that it would eliminate any noise or rattling, and also transmit less vibration to the rest of the stand/floor.

I think you are correct about the o ring being there for noise reduction. I had it in my mind it was to tighten up the fit, which it probably does a bit. I have not noticed any noise and I feel they are plenty sturdy. The really are a nice new alternative to the Ludwig 1400.

Too bad it isn't made in a boom stand. That would be perfect for a lighter ride.

I like how compact and lightweight the new hardware kit looks. Should be easy to pack and go. I didn't realize Tama had come out with it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Do they have a matching L-arm for the bass drum? I have a Gibraltar one on my D20 and the tilter on top is a bit... oversized for the rest of the stand.

Love the vintage looks and weights, don’t love that they can’t hold up my vintage cymbals.
