Hey thanks for the info I thought they might be mahogany, do you think this inner ply is birch or mahogany? Is there an easy way to tell?

If it's birch, the inner side of the shell would be a light brown (perhaps even brighter than the beech re-rings). But all I've seen from Premier's of that time, the inner ply was Mahogany.

NB: Perhaps a misunderstanding: I meant with 'inside' not the inner layer, but the in-between layer, that one between the two layers of Mahogany ... ;)

Yeah I think mine must be mahogany. I am loving the amount of sustain on the 12" tom so far, trying different heads on the bass drum to get the best sound.
