I've still got the Ludwig shells we discussed doing the "thermo-gloss" thing on this past spring. That project got pushed back simply because I don't have the Ludwig hardware on hand and don't have enough cash flow to justify spending just on the hardware!

Anyway, I could get those shells ready... and these for my new project, and then maybe just head up your way on one of my three day weekends before school starts again! (Haven't run that one by Vick yet though! ;) )

Probably going to go with the cherry... as my 9x13 is already done. It was a 3-ply with rings Slingerland shell, but I used Pearl lugs and a (Ludwig-like) granitone interior as it was originally part of a custom set that the buyer decided on having an 8x12 instead. I've had the finished 9x13 since (just been sitting on a shelf!).

Wow, sounds like a lot of drums to spray.

I set my Slingerlands up last night at our place we practice at. Remember the 24" bass drum you traded me for the two MIJ floor tom shells? That is my best bass drum hands down! I love the loud thump it delivers. And I even still have the heads that you threw in for free on it. The reso head was spray painted white and it must be adding to the great sound from this drum.

OK. I got the shells all dug out of storage.

And, I FOUND a Premier 10" cut-away marching tom! So I don't need anymore drums!

Also, the CB700 BD I had was just a CB Drums "SP Series" made in China. And, it actually measures 15x22, not 16x22.

One of the FTs actually measures 15x16, which was common for MIJs.

So, here's the whole lot (minus a SD)... "before" pics (except the 9x13 as previously noted, is finished):

As previously mentioned, since the 9x13 is already done, I'm probably going with the natural cherry. Here's a couple of closeups of it. You can see the Rustoleum paint I used for the interior (pic 2) is very similar to Ludwig's granitone of the 70s.

Tip of the day, when you cut those shells down on the table saw, cut them 1/8 too big. Then move the fence over 1/8" so the final cut is only cutting away sawdust and you dont have the fall off piece to worry about binding up. You will get a cleaner cut that way.

They have a thin stainless veneer that glued down sweet faux ss octa plus
