You definitely got a great deal! I've been watching prices for MIJ snare drums on eBay skyrocket! Problem is, most never sell for these ridiculous asking prices! Congrats on your Stewart snare drum! Post more pictures!

Stewart. That was the first drum kit I ever played as a kid. I loved that old kit but, back then I showed little respect for it. Threw it in the back of a van or pick-up, got to the gig and pretended I knew what I was doing. Everything was about the "chicks" back then. I now realize what a jerk I was! I wish I had that kit back instead of most of the girls I met while gigging!!! Damn!

I saw that snare on Monday ! It was selling with an antique violin..

I almost bought both to flip the violin !.

I 1000% knew that when it was gone, it was you who nabbed it.. LOL !

Nice ! :)

super great deal for a minty new WMP Stewart

I paid $65 (including shipping) for an orange sparkle snare, was listed as "Mica" brand, but it has the exact same hardware as the Stewart. It was listed on eBay for $100, but had a best offer option. I ended up trading the shell for a blue sparkle with @ConvertedLudwigPlayer since the orange matched his vintage Pearl set.

So yeah, $35 for an unplayed WMP Stewart snare is a great score! How does it sound? I have yet to hear a good example of one of these vintage MIJ snares. The ones I own either have heads that are completely shot or are missing snares and/or strainer.

Hell, I might have paid $35 for just the box alone. How rare is that? And tuning ket to boot!

I've often wondered how these kits were marketed and packaged. As simple as that box is, it's cool it survived the years.

Sure, I leave Canada to go pick my son up from college and I miss a deal like this. At least it went to a fellow VDF member and buddy ! Enjoy the great find.... But I will be back next week and keeping an eye on the posts for other treasures. Great deal and find and best of all it is going to a good home.
