New Member/proud Teardrop owner

Loading...

So hey everyone. New member here. I've been enjoying this forum for awhile, and all the great knowledge it contains. I learn something new every time! Thought I'd introduce myself, and send in some pics of a Sonor teardrop kit I've been working on. First of all, if these pictures didn't upload correctly please forgive me- still learning how to do this posting thing.

I have a 20" bass drum and 13" tom in the "Sparkling Krystal Silber" finish.

The tom mount on the bass drum is not centered, it is instead off to the side. It is missing the spurs (2 total, 1 on each side). I do not have the matching snare drum or the floor tom, but am currently looking for them.

I lost the rims to the 13, so I purchased a black galaxy 13 off e-bay just for the rims. I love these drums, and all although I haven't played all Sonor drums yet, I love the way they look.

These teardrops sound amazing! I've learned a decent amount about them, but haven't dated them accurately as of yet. If anyone has any information on them at all, or just wants to share their pics and stories of whatever kit they have, I'm always interested to learn as much as I can, so your help and knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I would narrow it down from January 64 to December 65. Reason why is that in 64 you started to see the split squared badge take over the double mallet logo and centered BD mounts take over the offset. By 66 everything is centered mounts and split squared badge.

Does it have a written or stamped number in side them ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Thanks very much Oddball. I've looked and looked in all kinds of light, but no dates or stamps of any kind unfortunately...

I know this could be a long shot- but anyone have any info on where to find matching snare (of any depth) or matching 16 or 18 floor tom in this finish...??

Does anyone know how common this finish is? Is it rare? I would love to see pics of anyone who has these...
