Hello all.

I've been a visitor here for a long time because I used to restore old drums in the 70's, and love to read about other peoples restorations. You guys have some great stories and I have learned a lot of techniques from you all. All the forum members seem to be a great bunch of guys despite what people say about us drummers. :p

Well, I haven't restored any drums in a long time, but that just changed recently with the purchase of an old Ludwig snare drum. I'm still trying to nail down the model and year.

It looks like I'm back in the game now and I'm gonna need all of your help to do it.

Welcome, Martygras! The nice bunch of people here love to be helpful with any vintage drum question or restoration issue. There's experts here on any specific topic, so post some pics of that old Ludwig snare. You'll have the year and model within three posts!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I started a new thread to track the restoration of the snare under "Restoring Vintage Drums".

It's a Ludwig 3x13" piccolo snare from the 60's.

Used to restore old drums in the 70's? Shee-oot!! How old were THOSE drums. Just kidding. Welcome, and I wonder if you have some old, classic restore pics to share.
