Just wanted to say hi as I am a new member to this forum. I was actually trying to find out what year my Ludwig supraphonic 402 was. I searched but still couldn't find a definitive answer. The serial # is 1978349. I'm actually also interested in acquiring a vintage Ludwig set in the near future. Thanks for any info.

Welcome to the forum. We need to see the drum and the badge type your drum has. Serial numbers are hit or miss in many cases.

I'm not sure if you visited the serial number page? Click Here

So let's see the drum and the badge.

Thanks

David

Haven't been here in awhile, but I have a pic of the Supra now. You purists won't like it, but I put a Trick throwoff on it because I really don't like the P-83. I used a retroplate kit, so I didn't drill any extra holes, so it is reversible. I would still like to know what year it is? Thanks.

I'd say around '79 or '80.

That drum wouldn't have had a P-83. It would have had a P-85. Burger Kin

According to the serial number section of this forum, the drum is likely a 1979 model LM402.

You're right, but I don't like the P-85 either. The Trick is solid and smooth and precise. Plus, it doesn't look bad either.
