I want to take an opportunity to say hello to everyone and introduce myself.
My name is Todd and I am a early thirtysomething musician from central Wisconsin. I have been primarily a guitarist for twenty-plus years but have always dabbled with other instruments and home-recording. When my uncle was a small kid in the mid-50's, he got a brand new silvery pearl, three-piece Kent drum kit (white badge with gold Kent lettering). As he grew out of drumming, the kit sat in storage at my grandmother's house for decades. When I grew old enough to start a rock band in high school, we hauled the drum kit out for a few years to give our non-drumming "drummer" something to bang on. That band went nowhere so the drums returned to storage at the family home until my mother sold them to a friend of mine two years ago. The friend kept the kit in storage because it needed some work and he had kids to feed first and foremost. Well, that friend became my co-worker and the drums found their way back to me in exchange for a weekend of helping him put a kid's playground together. Currently, this non-drummer is going to restore the drums and use my uncle's childhood kit to learn some basic drumming, bringing the fifty-year-old history of the kit full circle. Wish me luck!
