New Gretsch Badge ?

Loading...

How does this Gretsch Badge fit into the established timeline ? It was on an old 6X23" bass(single tension, calf). The rectangular badge is 1 1/2" X 5/8" & tacked on w/ 2 small nails. T Dennis

This looks more like a guitar version of the Gretsch Logo. Possibly added to the drum from a case, or amp.

More photos of the drum it came from might shed more light on the era.

David, The 6X23" shell is 3 ply Maple, 9/32" thick , w/ no reinforcement rings. Interior is smooth & finely finished, & so are the bearing edges (edges are rounded ). The shell is undrilled except for 2 vent holes w/ metal grommets above the badge.. Has 8 single tension thumb rods. This bass came matched w/ 2 L.W. Hunt 9X12" toms. TD

Thanks for adding the photos here. I have not seen a badge like this on a drum. I also do not have any catalogs that this drum might be in, so I can't help much.

If it is value you are after, I would say $75 - $100 in that condition. The badge does not increase the value in my opinion.

I would also get in touch with Gretsch they may be able to help you & they might even be interested in seeing the badge.
