New Girl In Town

Well hello everybody! I am so happy to find this forum and the vast amount of knowledge that must be available here!! I am brand new at playing the drums (coming up on a year) although I have been a drummer all my life :)

Even before I knew a thing about drums, I knew what sound I loved. The softer, warm and lingering drum sounds of classic rock has always been the most pleasing to my ear. When it was time to actually buy a set for myself, I knew nothing else would hit the spot like the actual drums that made the music that moves me the most.

That being said I am the proud new owner of a set of 1967 Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl drums. They look brand new and have been kept in amazing shape by a single owner for 44 years. I am looking for tips on caring for these drums and keeping them beautiful for the next 45 years!

I just opened them up yesterday so I don't have too many pictures yet but I will be posting soon.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning more about my gorgeous new drums!

Amanda

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It's a pleasure Amanda. Also, you can not describe such a wonderful find as your new drums without posting some pictures. In fact I would be willing to bet that it's against the law to do so in Texas! :p

Can't wait.

Hi, and welcome.

67 Luddies, SBP, one of my favorite wraps. Mine are 62s. Her are some tips on keeping them looking new.

1. Keep them out of direct sunlight, to avoid wrap fading.

2. Keep them clean, waxed, and lubricate moving parts.

3. Use cases, when traveling with them.

4. Make sure drums aren't "touching" each other when playing, to avoid "rash."

Enjoy!

Nice to have you here Amanda! That is an excellent set up drums to fuel the fire and desire to want more and more vintage items!! :-)

Keep them clean and shiny, also find the catalog (most likely on the sister site of the forum) that matches your drums. Something very rewarding (and a bit nerdy) to get everything set up exactly like the catalog page.

Hope to hear from you soon!
