new Flat Base Hardware. Who has experience?

Loading...

Hello,

I have been looking for some vintage flat/flush base hardware for my sets and I have just not had much good luck. Looking for hardware from Premier, Olympic, Ludwig, Rogers, Camco, etc. Anything out there is either not in great shape, or crazy priced or both. So, that is leading me to look at the newer offerings from DW, Ludwig, Gibraltar, Pearl, Tama, Canopus, etc.

Does anyone have any experience, good or bad with the more modern offerings,? Rough idea what you paid? I would really like to stay with hardware that borrows from vintage looks, is light weight, yet sturdy enough to hold a 22 inch cymbal but I do not expect the hardware to not sway when played due to the light nature. Just down' want stuff falling apart or over.

I have 2 Gibraltar flat based cymbal stands. They are excellent! It will hold a 22" ride with no problem.

I use the Gibraltar flat based series hardware. I have three of the straight cymbal stands, two snare stands and the hi hat stand. All are very solid and great quality. The cymbal stand holds my 23" Zildjian Sweet Ride with no issues. I got all mine on sale through Dales Drum Shop in Harrisburg, PA. The straight stands, model 8710, were on sale for $39.95 which is a really good deal.

Thanks for that info! I've been looking at them too and cheapest price I saw was $53. Guess it's time for a road trip to Dale's!

I have one Gibraltar one as well. I think they are a bit pricey for what they are but they're fine. They hold my mid 50's 22 with no issues.

I actually use the massive Yamaha 900 series stands almost exclusively now. Yeah, they weigh a ton and don't look "vintage" but they work. I can mount my 13, 15 and the 22 on one stand if I wanted. It's rock solid.

PS always looking for red label 900 series stands! A high hat stand in particular...

I'm liking the clean classic looks of the Tama "The Classic" stand but none in the local stores to take a look at.
