New Drum Maintenance

Loading...

Just bought a new Ludwig Legacy Mahogany kit along with a reissue Jazz Fest snare & a Supraphonic LM402. How important is it to lubricate the lugs on brand new drums? Should the Supraphonic be cleaned regularly to prevent oxidation or pitting? Appreciate any input. Thanks!!!

Congrats on your new kit! The Legacy Mahogany drums are really nice! As to your questions, no lubrication is required with those new tension rods going into the lug nuts. Your new Supra won't exhibit the dreaded "acne" for a long, long time. The best thing to do is keep the shell clean by removing fingerprints and keep the drum protected from the elements when not being used. Meaning, keep it in a good soft or hard case.

Post pictures if you can. I know we all love new drums! Especially new drums with a vintage flair!
