New Calf Skin Head questions

Is there anything I need to know about mounting a new calf skin head on a tom or snare?

Do I need to step tension and wait to allow it to settle, or anything like that?

I really don't wish to ruin the heads before I get to even lay a stick on 'em.

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

Check in the restoration part of the forum. There are a few links in the "sticky" thread on tucking calfskin heads. One of them towards the bottom of the page has a link that seems to explain what to do the best. Sorry, I'm not real versed in calfskin heads, but maybe someday if finances allow.... :D
