It's got a Nickelworks throw which I don't think existed in 71.
Seems suspicious.

Retract your bid...now! I'm having a hard time believing that those knowledgeable with Ludwig can't tell that this is a custom-built drum! The number of bids seems to confirm this!
The "110" written on the label does not appear to be original. I've looked at every drum offered by Ludwig in the early 70's and there is not a single catalog number beginning, or ending, with 110.
When people don't take the time to educate themselves, they end up spending too much and are the ones that sellers target. Now, I'm not saying that this seller is a scammer, only that he assumes it's a Ludwig based on the label.
As always... "buyer beware"!!!

The real irony is that when that drum was made, it likely cost a bit of money -back in the "old' days when almost everyone had a "custom' snare drum business.
I was curious as to whatever happened to all the drums that had the Nickel Drumworks throw off on them. This is the first one I have seen in a long time -and broken, of course. I hate to say it, but those throw offs were absolute $%^&* -as well as all the other, similar, gigantic throw offs of that era. I've met Greg Nickel a few times and he seemed to be a nice guy....and, for whatever reason, his throw off sold like hot cakes for a period of time....but then.....well, as you can see...they broke!
That label certainly has the telltale signs of being lifted from another drum.
