Need Strainer and Butt Plate - Star/Tama

Good Evening to Everyone.

First post and new here.

Hopefully someone can assist as I am having no luck on eBay or related internet searches.

Please see the attached photos.

Sorry for posting so many photos, but wanted to be as clear as possible. I can send additional photos to someone if they need to see different angles.

I am looking for a nice replacement strainer (complete) and butt plate for a vintage/older 14" snare drum by Star/Tama.

I am also looking for recommendations for the snare wire assembly.

I assume if someone can assist me they will send me a message, and we can go from there regarding payment and shipping.

Welcome to the forum. Right here on this site they have new snare drum butt plates that will fit perfectly. Just click on Vintage Drum Store and look under the Japanese Parts. They might have a strainer that will work also.

Why don't you want to use the existing strainer any more? I'd recommend to keep the snare as original as possible. As far as I can see, you need a lever-arm only - and that can be a long threaded screw, from which you cut the head off. The thread itself is metric, M5 or M6.

I would 2nd this - though you can ask around (in this thread and for sure in the Wanted section on this site) for the actual arm/lever. I used to hate these strainers - because on the one(s) I used to have they were always broke and never worked. Then, I bought a snare with a complete functional one on it and I discovered that they work very well and I like them now. Al original is always best and this particular strainer works fine when complete. Also, if you replace it with any other style, it will lose alot of appeal.

BTW - great job on the cleanup! That snare is going to turn out beautiful!

Wow! I just happened to have this exact strainer and butt. It is brand new, but has accumulated surface stuff from being in a drawer for years that makes it look marred, but it is not. I'd give it to you if you can lead me to 2 14" 8-hole Gretsch double flange hoops from the 50's...which I'd pay for.
