Need info on this Gretsch

Loading...

I was recently given these but all I know about them is that a jazz musician used to play them. I'm new to drumming and drums, so please excuse any ignorance on my part in advance, like if I set up stuff wrong in the photos, since there were no instructions.

I did some googling, and I see they appear to be the early badge for Gretsch, but there's nothing else inside the bass or snare to ID their age (ie no markings or stickers etc) or value. Color is a dark blue. I did find some music books included in the case that had hand written dates of 1944 on them but not sure if that means the drums are that old too?

Can anyone give an idea of what these might be worth?

Also, any info on some of the metal pieces on the floor that I couldn't figure out what to do with. I figured out how to mount the block, and I think I figured out how to mount the little crash cymbal, but I wasn't sure I did it right so I took it off.

It says Bestone on the hi-hat cymbals which took a while to figure out how to put together. I also realize the snare stand is too low I just forgot to adjust for the pics.

Thanks for all and any help.

The joint be jumpin' now!

Those are some fairly valuable pieces. Do nothing until you get the skinny from the powers that reside here. Seriously. You have some very nice pieces. Don't sell or trade or move them ... yet. You are in for a bit of good news. You won't put your kid through college or anything like that, but the numbers will most likely surprise you considering your total output in obtaining them. You were GIVEN these drums??? Dang. I gotta get me a better set of neighbors.

Thanks for the feedback. My father gave me these many years ago, never told me how he got them. I finally dug them out of the cellar (since we were moving at the time so I never got to look at them really).

I was thinking of taking some lessons to learn how to play so I pulled them out, not realizing how old they were.
