Need info on Supra-phonic 60-63 Last viewed: 1 month ago

Hello!... this is my first post and first of all I´d like to thank you all of you for the support you give to all of us that don´t have the experience on this lovely subject.

I would like to know about my snare... I bought it within a mixed drum kit... the snare was the only reason I bought the whole bunch... I recently discover it´s a Supra-phonic 5x14 from early 60´s!!!!! the keystone badge have no serial on it and have the WFL letters carved on 2 plates...

What I want to know is how rare and how valuable is my snare... in my country we don´t have the vintage culture much developed... (I literally found this snare inside a bunch of trash) I hope some of you guys can help me... I´m not a drummer.... and maybe I´d decided to sell it...

Sorry for my english... I´m very out of practice... THANKS!!!!!!

Bienvenido, Agustin. Most of us like to see pictures in order to respond properly. Do you think you can do post some pictures of your actual snare showing the strainer, badge, muffler and butt plate? That would help a lot. Oh, and that snare could be quite valuable if it is the brass version from the late 50's/very early 60's. Either way...even if it is the regular aluminum version...if you found it in the trash...that was a great score!

Sounds like the same COB I have. Go to post #13 on this thread to see if yours is like mine. If so it's probably a '59-'60 COB.

Also, there's a great article in this link, with lots of great info on these pre-serial COB "Supers"
