Need info on a Rogers Dyna-sonic wood shell snare

Loading...

Hello drum gurus,

I came across a 5x14 wood shell Rogers dyna-sonic snare drum. I read some of the posts here and found out some things. It has beaver tail lugs, a round clockface strainer with a D, sparkling red pearl or red sparkle pearl finish, and the serial# 4330. What do I have here?

Thanks

Its crap. Ill send you an Ayotte Custom 7x14 in trade.

Dude, you have the holy grail. 1964, Cleveland era, possibly 3 ply. Worth........ A LOT.

Yep... that's a great one.. the wood Dyna-sonic. That's one of the vintage drums that everybody wants to have a chance to play (better yet own).

There were two recently listed on ebay.. one at 2,750 didn't sell, one at 4,300 didn't sell.

I'm not good on values but I think somewhere around that 2,000 mark is a good place to put it.

Congrats!!

Thanks guys, I believe it is a 3 ply shell if you don't count the reinforcement rings. It's in really great shape. Don't know if it's been restored or just sat in a closet for years. The batter head is old. Has dyna-sonic stamped on it and the Rogers logo. Thanks again

Dont lose that head. The Dynasonic Stamped heads were a very limited run and are quite rare. Worn or not.

Post pics or it never happened.

I like. You have a winner. Try a diplomat coated batter, Ambassador snare side, follow the rogers factory tuning instructions.......... and its orgasmic.

Very nice.

The Rogers factory tuning instructions are good of course... but if they don't get you where you might want to be, try these: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/rogers_dynasonic_set_up2.html

I play a Rogers wood Dynasonic as my main snare drum and it functions incredibly in ALL styles of music. I wrote these set up instructions based on what I had learned over the years of actually gigging with these drums. I have two wood Dynasonics: a 1966 in WMP... and a 1967 in WMP... also a 1964 COB 7 line... and a 1965 COB 7 line. I gig primarily on the '67 WMP Dynasonic, but I'll attach a pic of my 1966 for you to view... enjoy!!
