need help with rogers bass drum spurs

Loading...

Hi guys! this is my first post here, been lurking for awhile and finally took the plunge and picked up an old rogers floor tom that i'm working on converting to a bass drum. The drum is a massive 20 inch floor tom that the previous owner had apparently done half a conversion to, as it had a wood bass drum hoop on one end, and a tom hoop on the other. It still had the hardware for attaching floor tom legs to. I don't know hardly anything about old rogers drums, but it seems that the legs were the hexagonal ones.

What I'm trying to find out is if there is a more modern style of bass drum spurs that i could attach to the holes where the tom leg mounts had been or if I'm going to have to fill the holes and drill new ones to fit new legs on the drum. any advice you guys could send my way would be hugely appreciated.

here is a link to some pics of the original hardware

I'm wondering if the Rogers floor tom leg mount has the same size hole spacing as the bass spur mount? I think they might. You'd need to drill a hole for the spur itself to pass through the shell. But that would be a pretty easy fix if so. It would save you from having to fill holes and drill new holes for other brackets. Or just buy a pair of clip on bass spurs (clips on front or rear hoop) instead. Hopefully someone who knows Rogers stuff will chime in for you. Welcome to the forum!! Lotsa good people here.

You know another thought I had would be to use the floor tom mounts as is and buy some round bar stock from Home Depot or Lowes. Bend a couple L shaped legs, cut to size and add a rubber foot and there you go. ;) Just a idea that wouldn't cost a lot of $$$$.

that is definitely an interesting idea, unfortunately I don't have access to any kind of tools to bend metal.
