need help - vintage Premier identification

Loading...

hi guys ! i've bought Premier drum kit on Ebay - just was looking for vintage sound ! now there is a problem to understand a year and series of this drum kit.

there are some changes: bass drum legs from Sonor, rack tom holder - Sonor. Badges have been changed? but original were like the badge on rack tom.

Drums: 20*14, 16*16, 12*8 (may be 9 not sure about exactly depth). 3mm mahoghany with 10 mm reinforcment rings. Floor tom has larger diametr so modern heads desn't fit. It was cutted slightly for modern heads.

some photos, may be it will help to understand....

thanks !

Howya,

Those are indeed vintage Premiers, with some modifications as you say. However they are birch shells that have been stained, both the 12x8 and 16x15 are Pre International sized. Sure those badges have been changed too, plus the bass drum claws etc ...

They probably date to the middish 60s, but pre '67. Great tubs. Don't get too precious about authenticity, all those mods just improve the functionality. Take them out and play them!
