Need Help on my just purchased Rogers kit.

Hi,

I bought this weekend a nice old Rogers kit. I think I got a deal on it? I gave $200 for it. It's a players kit, not a near mint collectible. It's has a BDP finish, all badges, stickers, and hardware are all in tact. No real rust or pitting. All the hardware is orginal. The paper labels say Cleveland Ohio, model Holiday. Only problems is it has a bent botton rim on the tom, a lug and the snare in completely broken and there is a place on the tom where the wrap is wron down to the wood. But I guess after all this I still got a deal.

My question is which heads should I put on the drums to make them sound the best. The have clear Remo's on them now.

Also I need a B&B snare lug on snare to replace the broken one. Anyone have one? And I could use I rim too.

For heads it's your call, if it was my kit I would use Remo Diplomats or Emperors (coated) or Remo CS heads coated. Bottom res use Ambassadors.

They came from the factory with Remo coated Ambassadors (toms and bass). Snares came with coated Remo Diplomat batter and clear Ambassador snare side. It dependes on what you need sound wise. For rock I use Remo Pinstripes batter and clear Ambassador reso side (toms). Snare (COB Dyna) I use an Evens Genera Dry Batter and a Remo clear ambassador reso. I use a Remo Powerstroke 3 batter and clear Ambassador reso (BD). For jazz I use a factory setup on toms and BD. Standard set up with a coated Diplomat batter and a clear Ambassador snare side on my 5x14, 1963 COB Dyna-Sonic.

Nice!! But WHERE'S the PICS?? You just HAVE to show them to US!!!

Heads will certainly be a personal choice depending on what style of music you play, the volume you play at (Diplomat's might not survive very long if you need to play aggressively) and your personal taste in sound.

Lots of drummers want to attain their "own sound" and at that point and it makes no difference what style they will be playing, they take "their tone" with them and the musical expression that it affords for them.

You'd never see Buddy Rich change his sound for a gig, people hired him just for his signature abilities and sound! Ya know, like that.
