Hey everyone! I picked up this old kit that has no makers plate or anything, I fixed it up but I can't figure out the model, I do think it's from japan though, says it on the snare, and it has the vintage bow tie tension rods on the bass and tone mods on snare and floor tom. Please help!
need help identifying these drums
Snare is 'Battleship' era, (late 60s, early 70s) Pearl. The rest of the kit appears to be Star, slightly earlier, mid late 60s? Is that a wrap, or paint on shells - or painted wrap? Might be something nice underneath...

That snare looks to me to be era appropriate for the rest of the drums based on the strainer, which is definitely of the same style as what I recall being on MIJ's of the 60's. As to being Star drums, that seems likely.
Check out the Tama page under the Vintage Drum Guide of this website (link at top right-hand corner) and you will see the Star catalogs. Attached is the hardware page including similar strainer of the era.
Yes it is a wrap, I was just concerned about taking it off, don't want to damage. Than you! I was selling it for $375 since the tension rods on the front of the bass are not the original hardware. Is that a good asking price?

That seems waaay high for MIJ in the States.
MIJ wrap literally jumps off the shell when cut along the seam. No need for that on this kit though....?
