Need Help Identifying Slingerland Silver Sparkle Snare Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Loading...

I picked up a vintage Slingerland Snare Drum, and I am having trouble identifying it. It has a gold and black label and is serial numbered. It is silver sparkle and has 6 lugs. It is "14 x 6" from top to bottom when fully assembled - that's top of the metal to bottom of the metal, I imagine it is 5 1/2". It appears that maybe the previous owner painted the inside of the drum? I'm not sure. This is the first drum I have purchased. Please forgive my ignorance. My dad thinks it is a Radio King, but how do you differentiate between a student model? Any help would be great! Thanks.

Six lugs would make it a student model..

If the paint inside resembles a wash of chocolate milk then that is original from the factory. The active snare assembly is an aftermarket add-on. Appears to be the "Deluxe Student" model.

If dad thinks its a RK, then its a RK. He,s not far off the mark, besides no one would notice anyway. Just play it, and enjoy itStorm Trooper

Not an RK,.Like KO said a deluxe student model. An RK would have 8 lugs and a 3 point strainer, and snare bridges.Your drum has a rapid strainer, and actually measurers 5 1/2 x 14.An RK would also be a single ply steam bent maple shell, your drum has a 3 ply shell.Still a real nice drum.

You can reference the serial number and get an approximate date.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
