Need Help identifying ludwig black panther set?

Wow! You are the best! Thank you sooooo much! I'll get a better pic of stamps of other ones. They're at my friend's house for safe keeping. He thought they'd be with some money and cleaned the shiny one with ketchup! Said he'd do the others too.. old wives trick hous mom taught him. Any idea how i should list the drums? Set or individual pieces? How much? Thanks again for all your help you're a godsend I'd be so lost.

Ok, time for the Black Panther guru to chime in.........what you have there is NOT a black panther finish. What you do have is someone who tried to make a black panther set with generic vinyl out of a bunch of miss-matched orphan drums. The bass drum is a Slingerland-era Leedy with a cheap import metal hoop on it and some original and some non-original T-bolts and hooks on it, with either a MIJ or a Walberg & Auge double tom mount on it. (My bet is MIJ) The smaller concert toms are Ludwig from the early 70's, they appear to be 3-ply shells and some idiot had painted the insides black. Why did people do this?? Ugh!

The other toms are either genuine Pearl, or some other cheap Pearl knockoff import. Those are cheap luan shells and are pretty much worth zero. Poor build quality and such, and now that some knucklehead pretty much destroyed them by what they did to them, they would be pretty much only useful as parts for someone who needs hardware.....in other words, donor drums.

The bass drum probably could be salvaged, but it would need more work done to it than its worth IMO.

The stands.....a mess of hodge-podge cobbled together mix of different 70's japanese brands, some stand even made out of two brands....like the Ludwig Hercules base with the Tama boom stand top....DOH

Even the speed king is trashed. Basically, what you've got there is a bunch of trash. Hope you didn't pay much for it......

Jwags, don't clean the cymbals, especially the older ones, as it tends to affect the value in a negative way.

Yes, I'm a lady... well, a chick anyways... lol... and black panther guru, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU soooooo much! God I appreciate brutal honesty more than anything. I didn't know what the heck I was looking at or dealing with or what to do about it... nothing worse than getting Hope's up, or wasting time for nothing. So I'm super glad I didn't get involved much more or started putting money and energy into these damn things. You guys rock!!! Much appreciated more than you could know.. and WOW! you really know your stuff! I was driving myself crazy spending hours online trying to match the different lugs n screws n stuff to the finish and old drill holes inside trying to learn and figure out what I had.. so glad you took time to help me.. I would like to get rid of these suckers asap then, I need the space, my older kids don't play anymore. And my toddler driving me nuts wanting to get on em and just bang away... do you know anyone who wants a project or parts? Or best place to advertise? I could strip the hardware for them, glad you said not to clean, almost sat down to start polishing... whew! Another save <3. Xoxo. Thanks again guys... just hmu if anyone thinks of anything else or know the best course of action for all at this point. <3

Well, if your toddler Showa a interest in playing on those,,you never know. I started banging on my Mom's pots and pans as a toddler. You might have a future drummer on your hands and keep them to see if shows continued interest.

Here's my take on the cymbals going left to right.[img]http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=119287&d=1528404880[/img]There is model and diameter ink on whatever that one is on the left. We need to know what it says to get a better identification and price estimate. The MEDIUM CRASH can be pinned down from the ink in the photo, except I need to know the diameter to be sure of the rest of my scaling of diameters for all the cymbals. I think it is an 18". If so the expected price is about $100 with half selling from about $80 to $160 based on over 100 completed sale I've monitored. The next cymbals on the right look 14" and 22" which are the most likely sizes. They are probably A Zildjian, but to be sure you would look for pressed in trademark stamps which are small (say 1.25" to 1.5" tall) and easy to miss. I can establish production era from the trademark, although from what I can see in this photo the likely eras (post 1950s) aren't going to affect the expected price by much. You are looking for something like this:[img]http://black.net.nz/avedis/images/22-3482-later60s-ruler.jpg[/img]just to confirm that they are A Zildjian cymbals. The smallest diameter cymbal would usually be paired up with another one the same diameter as hi-hats.
