Need help identifying drums!

Loading...

I was given these three drums recently, and I cannot figure out what they are, or how old. The only signs of identification I could find was the word JAPAN on some of the hardware. There is no stamp, but a dark oval on top of the bass drum where I assume one once was. measurements are: Bass drum, 13"x 22" Tom, 8"x 13", and snare drum 5"x 14". If anyone could help me get more information on what they are, and if they're worth anything, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

I'm no MIJ experts, others on here can probably give some great detailed information...but I'm gonna go with Stewart (or some other Star made, Stewart type name, there's lots of them), 60's. What's the shells? 3 ply with re-rings? Does the bass drum have three re-rings?

Nice. Yeah, I'd go with my original thoughts. My Stewart has the same three re-rings in the bass drum. I don't recall seeing stick saver hoops on your kit, which mine has...but maybe they were replacements, or its another version of a kit, from the same factory. There were lots of names. Stewart kit's were copies of Slingerland's, of that era...same style lugs, stick saver hoops, etc etc.

Here's mine:

Your tom is 9x13 and the bass drum is 14x22. Those were some of the stock sizes for MIJ drums back then.

Thank you Trilok and DrumBob for the help! I figured it was MIJ but this clears a lot up for me.

I do not have a need for this set of drums, and will probably sell them. Any ideas what they would go for? They need a bit of TLC, and I unfortunately do not have the time to tend to them.

Looks like Star made lugs on the snare ..

But the bass drum t-rods look a little more like Pearl

If the wraps are not cracked

I would think a fair price for the three pieces would be about 150.00 -200.00

I agree on that price of $150-200. The lack of a floor tom brings the value down a bit. The drums can be restored, for sure. Let the buyer locate a floor tom.

That hardware is very odd. The steel rims are odd, the bd lugs are odd, the T rods are odd.The tom mounting arm...you guessed it...and the snare strainer. I have never seen those parts before.
