Need help Identifying drums

Loading...

Hi,

I've got some drums I can't identify. The badge was removed. I haven't been able to find the hardware on line. Tom is a 12" with 6 lugs. Bass is a 20" with 8 Lugs. Seller said they were from the 1960's? Drums do have reinforcement at rims. Tom hoops are stick savers. Hardware feels fairly heavy duty. (not flimsy light). Does anyone recognise any of this hardware? Thanks

Looks like a typical "made in Japan" set from the late 60s or early 70s. These were primarily made by one of two manufacturers (both of which remain in business today as Tama and Pearl). These sets are referred to as "stencil sets" because they were sold under many many different brand names. Generally it was the entity that was contracting to have the drums made and then importing them to the U.S.A. that picked a name and "branded" the drums which is why there were so many different names used and slight variations in hardware. These are the sort of sets you would see in catalogs such as Sears, Penney's, etc., but they would also turn up in music stores as lower cost alternatives to the American brands.

+1 with K.O. Post in the "Vintage Non USA Drums" section. Those guys over there will probably be able to give you more information about the kit.
