Need help ID ing year and value

Loading...

Hello everyone, newbie posting here looking for some help on year of manufacture and probable value. I have what looks to be a early 70's super sensitive marching snare in black diamond pearl. The badge is missing but tag inside says date 56717 and model number 1272. It has gut snares (a few missing) but is in great shape overall and sounds pretty good even with limited snares. Any help appreciated. Pic links below.

Thanks,

Welcome BPhelps

You have a 1972 Maple shell Ludwig marching snare in Black Diamond Pearl wrap with "Mach" lugs. Ludwig made thousanda of marching snares for bands and drum corps since the early twenties. I used to march one of those myself back in the day.

Its a classic snare in great condition. Its worth in that condition about $150-$200 bucks.

Congratulations!

You can find replacement gut snares sometimes here, sometimes on Ebay.
