Need Help dating a set of Slingerlands

Loading...

]I picked these up at an auction. They are old I know but not sure about the date. The snare has RADIO KING engraved on the rim. There are 2 toms a bass and snare. I have attached a pic of the badge and set. The toms dont have bottom rims but instead have skin tacked over, it appears original but Im not sure. They also have original heads stamped (slingerland) and a Crowell bass pedal ?? And an old high hat stand.?? There are some paint chips but all in all considering age they are in decent shape.

Any help in dating these would be great. And if anyone has an idea of value that would also be appreciated.

Hi...looks a WWII era drum set. Check out the articles here:

That's a Slingerland Radio King set in blue silver duco. Although the "tacked on" bottom heads aren't real desirable in the resale market, they can still sound great. The gem of the set is the Radio King snare drum.

The duco finishes will usually have flaking and chips...unless it's real bad, I'd leave it alone...refinishing it will hurt the value.

The snare would probably get between $450 and 650. Add another 100-200 for the rest of the set. Not sure about that pedal.

Nice find!

Yes, quite a find, and congratulations! Rich has it, looks like the basic configuration from a 1944 - 1945 Swing-Master kit.
